BCYC Pursuit Race
Sunday 9th August 13:30 start
The BCYC Pursuit Race will take place on Sunday 9th August hot on the heels of MYC’s Gower Challenge which takes place on Saturday 8th August.
The highlight of the sailing calendar, the Pursuit pits the small against the large and the fast against the not so with always a tale to be told afterwards.
Racing is based on personalised PY ratings, meaning entries will close at 18:00 on Thursday 6th August
The Pursuit lasts for 150 minutes and starts at 13:30. Slower boats get a head start with faster boats setting off according to their “rating” – think handicap, like in golf. The winner will be the boat that has sailed the most laps at 16:00. It all gets very “tense” in the last half an hour, with the lead changing hands often on a minute by minute basis!
For members who aren’t going afloat, the bar will be open from 12:00 allowing you plenty of time to choose your ideal viewing spot or sample our guest ale, straight from the barrel.
